Like titanforging, order hall missions are probably bad for the structure of the game but they keep people playing so the game itself is healthier while the systems are worse off. Naturally, if it's possible to mix/max the missions then players will focus on that specifically and try to make as much gold as humanely possible, to the extent that the amount of raw gold being generated by individual players is higher than it has ever been in the history of the game. It is a catch-22 though, if the gold missions weren't there then they wouldn't need to earn more gold to keep up with other players. I don't think it's really possible for Blizzard to go back on the idea of having gold as a reward for missions, as we've discussed in the past it's a life line for players that don't do anything else to earn gold in the wider economy. This generally sparked a discussion on the missions themselves and their role in the economy. Do a Blood of Sargeras or Primal Sargerite mission, then use the rewards to buy mats, and then sell the mats on the AH for whatever they're worth.
Do an AP mission, that returns 2 greys if you 200% it, that sell for 25g each.If you still have order resources that you want to convert into gold, as far as I can tell the options you have after the pre-patch are quite limited: Unlike WoD, there are still no missions that you can use to gain order resources (unless you're a druid), so you still have to play the game if you want to earn order resources to send off missions. Pretty much everyone was expecting them to be removed, and pretty much everyone was correct. Right now in the beta, the gold missions that used to appear in your order halls are gone. This question seems to get asked about once a week so I feel I should set things straight a bit. This lines up with speculation last week that the gold rewards would be removed when the pre-patch for Battle for Azeroth is shipped, just like they were removed from the Garrison in Warlods of Draenor in the pre-patch to Legion. As the saying goes, “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.Īfter more play time on the 8.0 prepatch on the PTR, there's more concrete evidence of the gold missions finally being removed.
